Food Lovers Market Bulawayo celebrates its 7th anniversary this October. As part of the celebrations, the store has a few events lined up to commemorate this milestone. Earlier in October, Food Lovers Market ran an instore pop a balloon competition for their customers and will have a Cancer Walk Fundraiser lined up for this Saturday the 12th of October. The cancer walk named, Treasure Walk for Cancer is a 7km walk starting at 7am, with the aim of having  at least 1000 people participating. Adult tickets are going for 20ZWL and children for 10ZWL. The walk is a Food Lovers Market Bulawayo initiative, supported by Soul Affair, Paper Bag Africa, Hella Hella Entertainment and Ticket Joint.

The cancer walk is aimed at raising funds for Kidzcan Zimbabwe, a Private Voluntary Organization assisting children with cancer in Zimbabwe. They seek to serve children and families affected by cancer in Zimbabwe. Kidzcan provides a variety of critical and different services that include diagnostics, clinical care, advocacy, and case management. The organization envisions a compassionate world where children with cancer are given the chance to lead healthy and fulfilling lives, anchored on Christian values and principles of love, empathy, integrity and inclusivity.

Apart from the walk we are encouraging companies and the general public to purchase the tickets and come and partake in the walk. There is a Health and wellness fair after the walk and we have stalls for a donation of $250rtgs

They believe information needs to be spread for people to gain more knowledge and realize that they have a role to play in society. The fight against cancer cannot be successful without finances. It is important to support the fight financially, and this is why walks are organized. One needs to keep fit because this is one of the ways they can prevent cancer therefore by participating in the walk, they will get time to exercise, and also contributing towards a good cause.
